RabbitEARS™ Dual Band
antenna signal booster (range extender) is
designed to take full advantage of DJI's
OcuSync 2.0 by supporting the new
automatic band hopping between 2.4 and 5.8
GHz frequencies, which maintains the
strongest signal available during flight.
This also eliminates having to manually
set the band (2.4 or 5.8 GHz) in the DJI
Fly App according to which antenna signal
booster is being used, and physically
switching and carrying two sets of
antennas for different environmental
conditions (urban/rural).
For improved signal strength RabbitEARS™
Dual Band antenna signal booster uses
patented micro/mini pin technology
suspended in an extremely low density foam
body, which provides greater accuracy in
it's frequency response and less signal
blockage, for the DJI Mini 3, Mini 2,
Mavic 3, Mavic Air 2 and Air 2s controller
antennas. If we take a closer look at the
DJI antenna below, it is unusually thick
unlike previous DJI drone
antennas
and inside there are two elements instead
of one. The front element is the driven
element connected to the wiring of the
controller and the back element reflects
the signal back to the front element and
is called a reflector. These elements are
familiar to Yagi-Uda antenna designs which
also have director elements in
front of the driven element. Since the
DJI controller antenna already has a
reflector element it doesn't benefit
with an additional one behind it, and
can only benefit
with director elements added in front of
the driven element. The
director elements must be properly
spaced (progressively) and tuned in
length for the controller/drone, and
made with special polished alloy to
reduce electrical surface resistivity
for optimal performance, unlike existing
antenna boosters. Patent 10910730
and patent pending.
RabbitEARS™
Antenna Attachment
To attach
each antenna booster align the slotted
end up to the side of the DJI antenna
and the alignment slot with the rubber
phone pad holder, then slide into place as
shown below and press the antenna booster
to secure in place. Each antenna booster
can be used on either side of the antenna.
For the best performance, make no changes
to the default Fly App transmission
settings (Dual-band, Auto). If there is
little improvement, under "transmission"
set the frequency to "5.8 GHz" (in Auto)
then immediately back to "Dual-band" (in
Auto) with the antenna booster
attached. This will start
"Dual-band" on 5.8 GHz for the least
interference and automatically change
according to the best frequency for use
with the antenna booster.
